Reza Mafakher's Innovative Iranmall Stadium: A Blend of Art, Architecture, and Sports

Unveiling the Unique Design and Technological Aspects of the Award-Winning Iranmall Stadium

The Iranmall Stadium, designed by Reza Mafakher, is a recreational masterpiece that gracefully integrates into the Iranmall complex. The design process involved a thorough analysis of the site's restrictions and circumstances, leading to a design that enhances the excitement of the audience during matches. The stadium is not an additional mass to the project but develops from the main shell, creating a unique and exclusive experience for users.

The stadium's unique properties lie in its creative and context-derived design. The formation of the structure evolves from the roof shells, setting up from the ground on the facade. This metamorphosis approach results in a design that remains a grateful experience for users, enriching the elegance and grace of tennis activity.

Mafakher utilized opal wood, a combination of rice grain and polymer, to create the curved shell of the stadium. This material offers both flexibility and stability, making it ideal for the stadium's unique structure. Additionally, it is recyclable, making it a green material with a wide color range.

The Iranmall complex spans a floor area of 1.7 million square meters, housing commercial, administrative, cinema and theater, food court, amusements, event hall, auditorium, auto gallery, Tehran international trade center, exhibition hall, a 5-star hotel, exhibition hall, ski and ice skating resort. The tennis stadium, located on the project's roof at an elevation of 30 meters, covers about 3500 m2 in the North-South direction and is adjacent to the Persian Garden project.

Designing the stadium presented several challenges, including creating a design that represents the dynamic and active side of sports. However, Mafakher and his team overcame these challenges through extensive research, focusing on factors such as VIP entrances, player entrances, comfortable seating for spectators, and VIP parking. As a result, the stadium's design is a testament to the dynamic and active side of sports, with the roof and ceiling transforming into the stadium shell.

The Iranmall Stadium, a design that is both creative and exclusive, was awarded Silver in A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award in 2018. This prestigious accolade is rewarded to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
